My 2013

It was several weeks ago that I was at PCMC, and The Vow was on screen.

Next thing I know, I was stuck to the chair for half an hour.

You know sometimes, that one thing that doesn't seem significant to you suddenly gets your attention? Funny, I remember the first time I watched this movie, and what happened thereafter, and I remembered being a bit bored watching it the first time. The second time, however, was different. And I guess I know why.

Life, to me, is pretty simple.
It's a collection of memories, be it good or bad, that forms the storybook with your name written on the book cover.

It is the sum of all your decisions. The burden of your regrets, and the short-lived moments of glory. It's the time you take to foster good relationships with one another, and renew it over and over again.

It's love. It's air. It's recognition, reward, achievement. It's the the smiles returned at the act of kindness, the laughs over silly jokes, and in the color of the trees. The drop of rain. A life made in the soil. It's every microorganism in its beauty.

And so the curtain closes for the year, and truly, and tremendously, this year had been, quite a ride.

I moved on from Hyphens and never looked back. To me, it is in AstraZeneca that life really started. There were stolen moments of happiness, in the mornings bantering in the office with Syam, Denesh and Simon, not forgetting Hyacinth. My boss has been such a supportive person, being there when I needed her. The learning curve was steep, the challenges were upscaled, but so were the returns. :)

This year, I took a lot of time to know myself a bit better, a journey I decided to take when my relationship ended. It tears me inside sometimes, when I think about it. And often I wonder if it was right or not; my decision. A lot of time was spent driving in the car, moments of solace in which I appreciate as I put my life into perspective. There was disappointment, there was also happiness, this year really tested my limit. If there was any word to describe the year, it would be, tumultuous.

Made some new friends, tested a few.

Some came and left, some you know will only be around in the short run. Been busy multitasking a lot this year too, but it seemed less busy as I learn the gift of prioritizing thanks to my darling Jeen. The bitchslap she gave me in a Malacca really did wonders for me this year..!

Ooh, did I achieve my resolutions? Welllllllll wish I could proudly say "I did it all, hell yeah!", but, we'll not really. In fact I fell quite short. (Malu) Aiks, it's okay there is always next year..! :)

Next year, I'm pretty set on what I need to do. :) just need to work on it and I'll get there one way or another.

Hoping for a better year next year!! C'mon already 2014! :)

Lotsa love.

Run! Hop! Jump!

... And so if your company decides to feed you well, you will most definitely have to find ways to loose those access fats, right??? :)

So what did I do in the past month??

Well, for starters, I joined the World Diabetic Day walkathon. And I walked a fun 5km!!!

Eliz and Cindy

Stretch Levy!!!

At first I was reluctant to attend it, and I was like, "Really??? On a Saturday morning???? Like omg I'm just too lazy..!" I almost felt like bailing out, but I had all the participants' shirts with me, so, damn, can't chicken out now, can I?..which was why I asked for a favour from Danial to pick me up from home at 6.45am. He was so nice to offer me a lift. If not, I'm pretty darn sure I'll get a call from who-so-ever who's there at 8.30 screaming "Where are you Jean?!?!?!?!" Lol..

And so we ran!!! Walked for the most part, but ran when we felt like it. And suddenly, amidst the walk, it had to rain..! And we were thinking halfway through the walk, probably st that point passing the 1.5km mark, that it was God's calling la, that He jjust doesn't want us to walk. :) Both Denesh and I were contemplating on turning back, get on the car and driving home (coz going back would have been a waaaay shorter path), but finally he was like "F*** it la we came all the way and are already soaked, might as well finish the race man. :)" And so we did! We emerged Victorious! Well from the back la, maybe we were the 12345th people who reached the finish line. :) hahahah.. but hey, we finished! And it was all fun and laughter along the way, which was totally awesome!!! Denesh is an awesome entertainer. :) Better than sleeping through the morning. Don't feel so lazy anymore..! *winks*

Talk about losing weight, after running we went to makan, where at??? Acme Bar and Cafe at Troika, of course! :) Another round of good breakfast. I ordered egg Benedict infused with vegetables and hollandaise sauce. Suddenly, it felt so 'Masterchef-iish'.. *Smiles* simply heavenly..! And the sizzling brownie, Ahhh to die for!!! A must try really, ignore the calories. Like they say, you can burn the fats tomorrow, but you can't find a brownie like this one..! A must eat!

... And over the weekend, we decided to organize a trip to Skytrex! Certainly super fun, tops my list of the most physically challenging event so far. (Damn, that just goes to show how much of 'exercise' I have been doing the past year).. Lol.. Not too late to change, rite??

Went for the most extreme, called the Extreme Challenge. :) Simon had to tail me coz I was soooo afraid I wouldn't be able to throw myself off the cliff for the 23m starter Flying Fox. For a moment there I recalled of the moment I fell off the building and the tree. But in the end, when I took the leap of faith (without anyone's help), it was the most.. Exhilarating feeling ever!!!!!! My first flying fox experience and already from a pretty high dismount point. Loved it..!!! Never looked back and completed all the challenges! So fun!!! :) Guess I'm not that afraid of heights anymore. :)

Body ached like nuts that night. :) took Vimovo. Lol. :) drug girl taking her own drugs. Weird.

It was a good weekend, really. Was so much fun. Hope my 'company' had an equal fun as well! He says that the extreme has a higher difficulty level by 20% from his opinion. He looked like he had a lot of fun. I'm glad. :)

Gotta start writing 2013 resolutions already..!

Ohh ya, bought myself a super expensive dress. Like, the most expensive of my collections. But hey, if you like it, and you can afford it, why not, right??? It's good to splurge once in awhile. It's good for the soul. (Hahah, tryna console myself)

Looking forward to December. :) The end of the year is approaching..! Time to re-visit your checklist people!!!

Lotsa love..! :)

Thoughts over Thoughts

And so it has come to the 11th Month of the year. Anyone noticed the off-and-on daily downpour recently?

Yesterday night I received a news that has caused a sleepless night. I don't recall my ergonomic bed being so damn uncomfortable. Ah well, bet I knew it was the news that bothered me so much, not my bed. It's a good bed. *pat bed*

That news have caused me to flash a good 9 years of my life. What happened since then? Have I been truly happy? What have I done that was significant to mark my life? If I left the world today, how would people describe me in 50 words? Would I have made a significant impact I another person's life? What was my biggest regret??

What about the roads that should have been? Could that have been the better road? Why was it that I had less of a backbone then than I do now? Would things have been different? Better? Or worse?

Life is okay for me now, but do I want more? What is it that I'm truly seeking? What, or rather who, can give me that satisfaction that I so dearly seek for? And if I found the 'who', and the 'what' is laid before me, would I, at that time, be able to know that this is what I truly want?

What if when I reached there and found both, then only to realise that it does not give me the fulfillment that I seek?

I'm afraid. I'm afraid of the result. But is that also the reason why I keep searching but have never been able to find an answer? Maybe I have already found it initially, but refuse to acknowledge it simply because I'm afraid? How will a person be truly satisfied? Should it be under the yardsticks of the society's measure, or his own? Can that be a possibility? Or am I just crapping coz of the lack of sleep?

I'm seeking for perfection.

But everyone knows that there is no such thing in this life.

But what about, my kind of perfect? In my own definition?

It's difficult, but then again, nothing in this life comes easily. If it did, nothing would be of value.

But the question boils down to:

What is it that I'm truly seeking for????

Questions, over questions.
Damn.

I express my feelings better in writing than in words. Maybe I should have become a writer instead. Or a poet, yeah, like that would generate a decent income in today's age. (Me being plain ol' materialistic). Blehhhhh..

No matter what, my thoughts go out to that person who have caused my one night. Not in a bad way, but in a good way.

Sigh, anyways, have a good Monday people.

Lotsa love.

A kiss by fate?

Life is funny.

I'm looking at my screen nowadays being entertained by a person who I would say met by fate.

Who would have known that the driver who accidentally 'kissed' my car not too long ago, who by the way at the time was quite in the state of shock and filled with remorse and guilt for having done so undeliberately despite the incident that merely caused either car any damage, would turn out to be a very entertaining figure on my whatsapp?

This morning I woke up at 9.47 to the message of a whatsapp.

Guess who was it??? :)

Talk about an unexpected encounter. :)

For now, I'm entertained. :)

Today was a good day, especially in the morning through noon, till about 4.30pm.

It was a good Thai food lunch (thanks Denesh for an awesome recommendation), followed by a 'juicy' cup of coffee (if you know what I mean), some quality time with family, before pursuing a pretty decent Japanese dinner with a couple of friends.

Well it's back to work soon. In about less than 10 hours time.

Better get a good sleep soon!

Goodnight!

Lotsa love.

News to share, here and there..! :)

It's rainy days like today that would easily bring me back to the times of yesteryears.

We had supper at SS2 yesterday, and whilst walking back to the car after a sumptuous nasi goreng USA that appealed to me very much, I couldn't help but appreciating the chill in the cold weather. There used to be someone else who would appreciate such weathers like this the same way I do too. I wonder how that person is right now.

You know what I miss???

I miss feeling free.

With the wind on my face, I miss riding at the back of a bike, with the speedometer ranging around 100 at the least. I miss that feeling, giving my utmost trust to the driver knowing nothing bad would happen coz the driver wouldn't allow it. Don't have to worry about anything, just being in the moment, feeling young. And foolish. And free.

It's ironic, isn't it? Ironic that I have a good car that can run even faster than a moderate bike, Ironic that I have more freedom than I used to ever have, and yet I crave for a different type of, say, satisfaction? And freedom? Is there something wrong with me or am I just plain weird?

Had dinner in the evening with Max several weeks ago. I'm so glad I met up with him finally! And was even more surprised that he was willing to spend the evening window shopping with me in an old, favorite hang out spot. Jusco Wangsa Maju. Went all the way there to grab a bite of The Big Apple doughnut. Mmm.. :) nothing much changed though. I used to love shopping there, especially during college days when I'm on a budget. Max asked me why I loved to buy all my stuffs from Memory Lane. Like duh, coz I'm on a budget laaaaah.. :p Thought I found the perfect gift for Sis, but after weighing its cost I thought I could buy something much more with the price I was going to pay for that piece.

Did a good deed recently! Spent a whole day doing fund raising. :) 9 of us cooped up around RM4.5K. I'm so proud to do a good deed. It's good to give back to society, especially to people who truly need it like the Spastic Organisation of Malaysia. Although my knees hurt like crap by the end of the day, it was worth every effort. Felt truly proud of myself for doing a good cause. Contributed my bit as well, although it's not significant. This is what I got in return. Inside, it is empty, but if you see it clearly, I'm sure you'll be able to see God smiling back because a good deed was done. :)

Became actively involved in Sports Club in AZ and organized a night with the Man of Steel too. It was a success, with 45 people attending the show, a hike from the usual 10-20 people who turns up for monthly movie night session. Felt happy..! :) Saw The Lone Ranger too. Didn't really like it though, thought it was quite boring. Also, during the half yearly company meeting, I was elected the President of the S&R, but gracefully turned it down as I am more focused to my sales figures, but I was happy to be elected Vice in return. Looking forward to more things to organize in the coming half year!

Girlfriend went to Europe recently and bought me some gifts..! This lovely, lovely, lovely bag, is from Veinice, Italy, made out of nothing else but pure leather!!!! *love you babe! You're just so awesome!*

She got me my long-craved Sainsbury muffins too..! It was a dream come true, and I was truly grateful that she brought back those muffins back here to me. And also the Frijj drink. Tasted just as good as before! Check out the pics.

Muffins tasted just as sumptuous as I remembered it. So happy! :) It's been a good three years since I had that last bite of those dear muffins, and it was the journey on the way to Scotland from Sheffield, in the coach that I had the last bite. Eating the last piece at the office, I thought to myself, when would it be the next time that I get to eat those yummy muffins again? Will it be another 3 years wait.......?

Dad bought Sis and I a new luggage, looking forward to use it to Hong Kong. :) looking forward to Disneyland HK and how it would differ from Paris. :) Made a friend in HK so he has shared with me some nice places to eat. Can't wait!!!

There's just so much to be thankful for. Like for instance, I managed to hit a portion of my target, despite being new in AZ. The people and culture here is also pretty good, which is something that is very important for me as I work with these people day in and out.

Well, let's end the blog entry right here this time around yeah? I'm getting the feeling that it's getting a bit too boring. And oh, I signed myself up for Yoga Class! Under company lah.. Haven't tried that before so am looking forward to it too! Gotta loose some weight. AZ is making me fat lah!!!

Lotsa love.

The Sum of Life

If God gave you the power to turn back time and change one thing, what would your answer be? If it's nothing, then I'm pretty sure that you are leading a pretty darn good life right now, good for you.

But the fact is, many of us have regrets, all of us, really, and those are the mistakes made thay defines us as we are  today. Some mistakes, as i look back now, i smile to myself, wondering how silly a person i was. I am not smart. I never have been. I remember being called stupid many times before. Perhaps it's all in the past, and the person who said it must have regretted it (i hope), but i sometimes recall of those times with a pinch of salt. As the way the world is made, the one thing you can never take back is words that you have spoken. The only thing you can do is apologise, and hopes the counterpart forgives. But that, is all in another chapter.

We will never know whether a decision we have made is the right one or not. I just follow my heart in doing what's right. I believe, so does everyone else.

If there was one thing I have learnt in my life, it would be that life is the sum of all the decisions that we make.

Many a times we wonder if we are doing ther right thing, that whether this would be relevant to us, whether the road taken would take us to the ultimate place, our goal. Or perhaps it's just me, that I am jut thinking too much.

And we will never know, for sure, until that one thing happens which marks it's significance. Some people get there eventually, but they arrive only to realize that the dream that they had was long overdue. Seen it in movies, not in real life though. Funny how life turns out ehy?

People always say, dare to dream, it would lead you somewhere, someday. But little did they realize the only a significant few reaches to the very top of where they intend to set themselves out to do in the first place. What happens to the rest of them? Left in disappointment in living the ordinary and maybe less of a life?

Not so true. Some people, in due course, finds happiness in what they do, and although its short from their intended destination, it would suffice that they feel happy with their achievements in how their lives have carved out to be.

Many things have happened recently. Some decisions were made. Although it didnt make everyone very happy, I guess, I believe, I owe it to myself to answer to no one but me, and that life is the sum of my decisions, and yes, people would judge (they always do), so as long as I know that I made this decision based on what I truly believe in, then when I look back, I will have no regrets. Time is something we cannot take back. It's time we live it for ourselves and not for others.

And yes, I'm heeding Sanjit's advise to me. I'll need a break for now.

Lotsa love.

An Older Post that I forgot to Publish in April :)

It was Mom's Birthday recently.

Dad bought her this.

While we bought her iPhone 5.

And our dear neighbour, Ben's mom got her a surprise Birthday cake. Plus, it was a pretty chocolate ice-cream cake that was quite rich in chocolate, from Secret Recipe.. She was so happy. Look at this pic.. Look at ColB!! He is smiling too!!! :)

Mom went back to Philippines and got me this. She bought from the airport on the way back home. It was so awesome! :) How thoughtful of mom. Sis and bro also has theirs. :)

And a whole lot of mangoes too..!!! :)

We are flying to Hong Kong for a vacation in August. Can't wait to visit all the places we've got planned..! Since I've been to Paris Disneyland, I'm looking forward to see how HK Disneyland differ. Since it's my sibling's first time visiting Disneyland too, there's so much of hop-has at home. :)

And am now a True AztraZenecanian!!!!

Yays!

Lotsa love.

A Door Closes, A New One Opens

I remember meeting this couple back at 2010, back when I was still working at LifeCare Diagnostics.

What enticed me about them was, they were retired when they were pretty young. The wife was at 45 while the man, 48 as I looked at their IC.

They were retired 10 years ago. I was surprised, and curious too. No matter what they were doing, it looked like that they have charted their lives accordingly AND successfully to live in comfort. And the man left me with one piece of advice. If you want to leave, leave while you are at the top.

It took me many nights to think if that move was necessary. The letter was printed. At the top of my name was a signature. My signature. The next step was to give it in.

**************************************************

22/03/2004.

It is a day that I have never forgotten, and I know I'll never forget in the years to come.

A day that I will always remember. A day that I have spent many, many years reminiscing with a pinch of salt, and a day that potentially made a bigger impact in my life in more ways than I could imagine.

It played an imperative part of who I am today, and how I view Love as a whole.

22/03/2013. Nine years later, when it striked 12.05am, I was brought back to that time and place again.

Reminisce. *sighs*

**************************************************

The journey that I have been with my previous company, Hyphens Pharma was filled with so much happiness, amidst the few rocks and bumps along the way.

I have come to know different people, formed different perceptions, seen things in a different light, experienced many different things as well.

Which is why I chose the same day to tender my resignation.

Perhaps it is so that as I look forward to the same date in the years to come, I would look upon it as more than just a fragment of a triggered emotion from the past. It would mark a turning point in my life, the doors to more opportunities, a pathway to a more enriched learning.

Last year I found out that I was the Top Rep for the Specialist team during the Hyphens Cycle Meeting Q1. I was so proud of my milestones; it was real hardwork. I'm glad it paid off, but I guess I had come to a point where I needed to move on from where I am, so I took the best of what I have learnt from there, and keep the memories created in a special book, and remember all the good times we have shared, as colleagues, as business partners, as friends.

On the day that my SM found out about my resignation, he was really surpised, and over coffee thereafter he mentioned that he sees me leave with a heavy heart but he wishes me the very best in my future undertakings. Mr Looi was the person who introduced me to the world of pharmaceuticals, and the beauty of it. It is from him that I have learnt so much from. I will always be grateful. We have had our share of laughter, some tinges of stress and misunderstandings, and some successes together too. That Mr. Uncle whom I can always say "What's up boss?", that would be something I would be missing.

On the week before I left, we did Blitz at KL. It was fun! For lunch we went to Levaine  Boulangerie and Patiserrie. Beautiful place, reminds me every bit of France. The food was pretty good, and price was considerably cheap! =) I loved every moment of it. And having it with Alicia and Angel, ahh, blissful indeed. =)

But what saddened me was when I informed my most most favourite Doc, Doctor Lim WK at Gleneagles Hospital that I was leaving. Even more shocking was when he found out that my last day was so soon. I was surprised to see sadness in his eyes, and I was truly just as sad as well. He said "I was his most favourite rep." He was such a good supporter, a friend, and a wonderful company. Not to mention he is one of the most influential ENT Specialist in KL and a KOL as well. To be able to leave an impact of so was an achievement. =) And darling said that he is the only Doc that I would jump up and down for. That's so true. Period.

Alicia asked me when we left, what did I do to make such an impact in Dr. Lim's life that it was so obvious, the sadness in his eyes to see me go. I just smiled. She covers him too but there was no spark like what we have. :)

Had lunch with Dr Padmini too on that final Tuesday. As much as it saddens her to see me go, she wishes me the very best. It's an emotional thing, to keep telling my Docs that I am moving on. But I made sure I see them smile before I left the room.

I guess that's life, isn't it? Do you really have to be someone who is that impactful, like Steve Jobs?

Or are you just happy being yourself?? Being the benchmark of what you do and making a significant impact in your job?? Suddenly I realise that sales is not just about making money anymore.

I am really going to miss everyone.

I am afraid for the challenges that lie ahead, but I'm ready.

Will I be able to replicated my success here in an MNC company?

That, I still dont know.

But I am looking forward to all the goods and bads.

My journey with Hyphens has been one that is filled with no regrets. I loved what I did every day, and am very emotionally attached with everyone whom appreciates me. They will always have a special place in my heart.

Well, the pharmaceutical world is rather small. Perhaps our paths will cross again???

lotsa love.

Random Resolutions???

I'm visiting my blog realizing that it has been a month since I last penned a note. It's customary for me to write a summary of what happened in the year when it draws to a close, but well, lets be a little unorthodox, ehy??

Instead of writing on how the whole year went last year, I figured its better to focus on what I would want to accomplish this year. It's more important to look at present and find out how I want to shape the future.

There are a few pertinent things though, changes that I would like to make. Firstly, I would like to be a happier person. Last year, it was all about running around like a headless chicken and taking less care of my well-being. It was then when I fell sick that I realized that its not the right way of living. You see, when you are younger, you think that you have your whole life ahead of you and you figured that now is the time to push yourself to your limit and see which breaks first, you or the challenge. Until you realize that it is the most important thing that you are compromising, your health.

Call me a freak, or perhaps it's the industry, but I see people around me struggling just to see the light of the next day. That is why I consider it a blessing being in this industry, coz I'm pretty sure that you don't give yourself a health check when you are in accounts or engineering or something.

Being in the world of pharmaceuticals, I realized how fragile life can be. While we are busy chasing dreams, we forget the very foundation that makes any of those dreams a possibility. Our well-being. One person dies every second out of heart attack. Did you know that?

Life is fragile.

So this year, I'm gonna focus on my health. Eating more nutritious food, less of the oil and fries, more of the fruit juices. Yeah i know its the same old yesterday story, but healthcare has evolved, and the things that you think only elder ppl get, we as the younger ones are prone to it already. So I'm sticking to a fruit juice made out of vegetables and fruits. Once a week, minimum. And, more of the smiles on my face so that I'll have more good hormones in my body. :) Go for more body massages and facial sessions too. Haha. I recently went to Herbaline. I highly recommend it. They have fish spa! =)

Also, I'm going to focus on a few other things, like learning my mother tongue, Tagalog language. :) Let's hope I succeed in that. I failed miserably conquering Japanese. Ughh. The only thing I remember from that two years is Aishiteru. And probably some Katana and Hiragana lah in between the lines. My Sensei would be so disappointed. Sigh.

Oh, sleep more, and earlier, that too.

And spend some time with friends. Selected friends. Just two days ago I met up with two old friends, they go way back to a decade ago, and suddenly on the dining table, I'm looking at how far we have come. One, being one of the most well-versed person i know, well-endowed with knowledge of all sorts, has become a financial analyst, another a dentist, and myself a pharma representative. But what was exponential was the conversation we had. We were talking economics, the revolution of medication and pharmaceuticals, stocks, shares, everything. Like what Mr Dentist says, conversation was first class. :) Should have more doses of that. Truly a breath of fresh air. Gotta freshen my knowledge more though. =)

Expand my horizons. No point of having too much savings. Life's too short. I'm going to learn how to bake. :)

Also, spend more time with my mom and dad. It seems like I have spent the whole of last year chasing after $$$ that I have spoken lesser with them. And yes, by God's grace and a whole lot of hard work, I managed to hit and recover my target, so praise The Lord. Was I proud of my achievement? Damn, of course..!!! Was just 6% short to have become the Top Rep last quarter. Never mind, try again this year.!!! :)
Made some good investments last year so I'm proud of that too.

I'm 25. 25 years of my life have passed me. It's time to take a look back of what has happened, and look at the future in a more fragile manner. No point being all great and dandy when you compromise more important things in the process.

Have more meaningful conversations, mix with the right people.

I found a gift from a very, very good friend a long time ago. I reckon she doesn't even remember giving it to me. I was in Standard 4. 11 years have passed since. And I still treasure this bookmark like  I did the very first time I received it. Man, I have aged. =)

This was something we had not too long ago on a family outing, thanks to Uncle Kwong. Luwak Coffee. Tried it before??? To all coffee lovers, you gotta try it. There's one in Paradigm Mall. At a coffee place called LonBay, at the same floor with Tesco. The coffee is priced at RM 89.90 for two. =)

By the way on another random note, mom won a phone, a Blackberry Torch 9810 from Public Bank..!!!

How lucky she is ehy?? And who gets the benefit out of it??? Who else????

And this is a pic from Full House, New Year dinner.
And over lunch last Saturday, we went to this place called Bonjour Cafe and Bakery in Kota Damansara. The surroundings weren't that appealing to me, except for their pretty fountain and their super-over-sized fan which I thought would kill me if ever it fell (I swear the fan is huge!). We read from some blogger that they serve some good bread. Total disappointment lah. But well the cakes are good. We had Chocolate Goulache. Not bad indeed, not too sweet, even a moose cake hater like me also took more than a bite or two. =)

Looking forward to CNY already!!!

Have a good holiday everyone!!! =)

Lotsa love.

Can't Smile Without You!!!
